Val and Jim are living their dream! After raising their four kids and working in the corporate and educational sectors, they now are the masters of their own “castle”, and loving every minute of it at Carriage House Inn.
Jim grew up in Boston and graduated from Georgetown University. After a short stint in advertising in New York City, Jim returned to Boston to open a new business. After a few years – and three kids – he and Val moved to New Jersey “for a year or two”. Thirty-nine years, one more baby, and many companies of his own and others, they decided it was time to get back to New England. It helped that all four kids were also living in the area – two in Massachusetts, one in southern Maine and one in southern Vermont. And five grandchildren added to the mix. Val and Jim headed to the Cape.
Val was born into the hospitality business with her dad as general manager of hotels. She was raised on Long Island and while in college, her parents sold the house on LI and moved into NYC where she worked until she and Jim were married. Besides raising four kids, she developed great interest in cooking, sewing, quilting and other “domestic” interests. She has an extensive collection of well-worn cookbooks as well as having attended cooking classes at Kings Cooking School in NJ and the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, NY.
All this lead to their ultimate dream of a romantic bed and breakfast in Chatham, Massachusetts. It was time to put Jim’s marketing skills and Val’s culinary talents to better use. They researched Cape Cod and found their dream house at the Carriage House Inn in Chatham. Come stay at our beautiful inn and enjoy a wonderful breakfast of Creme Brule French toast, Lemon Ricotta pancakes, or savory eggs with asparagus and tomato along with a wonderful baked bread, fruit, and homemade cookies. Along with the great food, they’ll guide you to local restaurants, scenic beaches, rainy day attractions, or make any other travel accommodations you may have, along with the very best personal service and extras like DVDs and WI-FI Internet access. Come see how the dream lives on…
