Warm Spiced Cider Beverage
Inn owners Tim & Paula Miller have been hard at work polishing their cooking skills. Our new seasonal treats include pumpkin whoopie pies with cream cheese filling and pumpkin souffle pancakes served with Vermont Maple syrup.
This fall, the Carriage House Inn wants to share it's warm Spiced Cider recipe. We serve this beverage in the afternoons with either chocolate chip cookies or other fresh baked goodies right out of the oven. Enjoy!
5 cups apple cider
2 cinnamon sticks broken in half
5 whole cloves
2 Cardamom Pods
2 big strips of orange zest (outer part only no white pith)
Combine all ingredients in a medium saucepan and heat to a simmer on medium low heat. Simmer for 10 minutes stirring occasionally – do not let boil. While cider is simmering, pour some boiling water into an empty insulated carafe and set aside. Turn off heat on cider and let ingredients steep for 10 more minutes. Pour hot water out of insulated carafe and strain cider mixture into carafe.
