There are many opportunities for world-class extraordinary shopping while vacationing at the Chatham Carriage House Inn.
Our Town Chamber touts that Chatham offers an exceptional number of unique shops to whet your appetite for that “special” purchase. Whether you’re seeking an unusual souvenir, folk art nautical home décor, a cozy Chatham fleece, fine art, or an anniversary “jewel” for that someone special, you’re sure to find it at one of our many shops.
Chatham has become a destination for browsers and buyers alike, from throughout Cape Cod and beyond. In Chatham’s town center, you’ll find nearly one mile of unique shopping that everyone will enjoy.
On Main Street, the best way to get around is on foot and it is all walking distance from the Inn. Start at either side of Main Street where you will find many fine shops and restaurants. Further along you’ll find galleries full of work by local artists, depicting life on The Cape in watercolor, oil, sculpture and more.
Traditional New England techniques like scrimshaw, pottery and weaving are alive and well in Chatham, and practiced by local artisans. You’ll also find nautical antiques, jewelry, clothing for men, women and kids, sports memorabilia, as well as gifts, novelties, toys, specialty foods, and more!

Like our Inn, the Candy Manor was originally a c.1850 home of Captain Isaac Loveland. If you have a sweet tooth, don’t pass by this outstanding candy store– good luck walking out without purchasing some Specialties of the Manor like the decadent caramel turtles or large dark chocolate peppermint patties.
Chatham Cheese Company
The Chatham Cheese Company is a gourmet food shop featuring artisanal cheeses from around the world. In addition to cheese, they also carry a great selection of wines, cured meats and pates, crackers, pasta, sauces, oils, vinegars, jams, honeycomb and chocolate, and bread from Pain D’Avignon.
Yellow Umbrella Books
One of two unique Main Street bookstores to choose from in our walkable Village! Yellow Umbrella Books is an exceptional bookstore offering new and gently used books to the Chatham community since 1980. If you enjoy browsing in the uncluttered atmosphere of a fine bookshop, this is the place!
Where the Sidewalk Ends Bookstore
Where the Sidewalk Ends is a mother-daughter bookstore located in a restored antique barn which is an adventure in itself on a rainy day! They host a series of Author Literary Luncheons throughout the summer. They offer exciting new books, lots of local authors and autographed copies, yarn and knitting classes, music CDs, and unique gifts.
The Fisherman’s Daughter Eco Boutique
Keep it local! Chatham native Taylor Brown blends her handmade organic collection of clothing, accessories, and home accents with a handful of unique and eco-friendly independent designers. She is a local commercial shellfisherwoman and daughter of a former commercial fisherman. Her collection, Fisherman’s Daughter, relies heavily on nautical nuances and captures the quality of couture design.
